Halloween (1978) is a seminal horror film directed by John Carpenter and starring Donald Pleasence, Jamie Lee Curtis, and P.J. Soles. The story centers on Michael Myers, who, after murdering his sister as a child, escapes from a mental institution 15 years later to terrorize the town of Haddonfield, Illinois, targeting teenager Laurie Strode and her friends. This low-budget independent film became a massive success, grossing $70 million worldwide and spawning a long-running franchise.
