    Why Miffy?

    Adventurous. Curious. Simple. Timeless.

These are words Dick Bruna used to describe Miffy that still resonate with us today. They mirror our relationship with retro tech. Our process embodies a bit of each of those things.

The Miffy + Retrospekt collection features a range of retro tech products including a Polaroid instant camera, two different 35mm film cameras, an analog flip clock, two camera bags, a portable cassette player and a turntable. Each item showcases classic Miffy illustrations that have captivated children and adults alike for nearly 70 years.

    The Father of Miffy

    about dick bruna

Miffy was “born” on June 21, 1955, when Dutch artist Dick Bruna first drew the character to entertain his young son whilst on a rainy seaside holiday in Holland. The series of picture books which followed used simple illustrations and rhyming text to explore the universal experiences of childhood, immediately earning Bruna international critical acclaim as an author and artist. The Miffy books have sold more than 85 million copies and are currently published in more than 50 languages.

Before his retirement, Dick Bruna cycled to work in his studio every day. It wasn't uncommon to see him cycling alongside the city's canals. He didn't look like a famous artist, but more like Miffy's grandfather: a bespectacled elderly gentleman with a friendly twinkle in his eye and a lovely white moustache. He was simply Dick Bruna.
